Freshman
Oh the days of being a freshman. I was so carefree, didn't get a lot of sleep, and learned how to adjust to college life. Like many freshmen can tell you, it's not easy moving away from home, especially when you come from a very overprotective family like mine. I admit I did not make good use of my time, and really could have studied a lot more and talked a lot less. Because of my failure to live up to my own standards, as well as having an overprotective boyfriend I decided I would leave Kettering.
Transferring may very well be the worst decision of my life, but ended in a great learning experience. Ladies let me tell you, NEVER let a boy make you believe you need to do something because he wants you to. That landed me at Western Michigan University, trekking what seemed like miles to classes that I didn't even want to take in the first place. I learned the hard way that public schools do not care if their students succeed let alone get into classes that will go towards their major. It was not a hard decision that I did not belong at Western.
Sophomore
A word to the wise, if you ever decide to transfer from Kettering it is not easy to come back. After taking classes at a community college and making many trips to the admissions and registrar office I got the ok to come back to Kettering. Sound's easy enough huh? Well it wasn't. Since Kettering's schedule differs from pretty much every other college I ended up switching sections & being in A section followed by a term B section. Oh and as for the boy, he was not happy I left him at Western to come back to Kettering.
Now I was finally back in my home of B-section at Kettering. But this was not what I had left, a few terms had lapsed, and friends had moved on and changed. I was lost to say the least. Lucky for me I still had a very good friend who happened to have joined a sorority while I was away. At this point I had no where to live, and heard that there was an open bed at the Alpha Sigma Alpha house. With the help of my friend I signed the appropriate paperwork & now had a place to live! Over the term I grew to love the wonderful ladies with whom I lived, and they rewarded me with a bid to join their family. I could not have been happier.
