Laser TOOL

As part of a Halloween theme, and catering to a population out of their norm, the Longway Planetarium showed a series of laser rock shows featuring music from Metallica, Pink Floyd, Rob Zombie, and a personal favorite for me, Tool.
With a cost of only $5, the nearly hour long Laser Tool show was a unique and affordable source of entertainment on a Friday night. Considering the Planetarium hosts, as many will remember from childhood, star shows of constellations and family friendly events about little starts finding their place in the universe, Longway Planetarium's sound system supports rock music better than expected.
The laser show itself was well done with well timed transitions that enhanced already powerful affect of some of Tool's most famous pieces, such as Schism, Sober, H and Vicarious.
For those who are unfamiliar with Tool, the band is comprised of four members, consists of drummer Danny Carey, bassist Justin Chancellor, guitarist Adam Jones, and vocalist Maynard James Keenan. They are often classified as a progressive metal band. Their lyrics echo though with Maynard's skills as a vocalist to twist emotions into his voice giving a tangible connection to the philosophy, spiritualism and deep meanings of the lyrics that are often not caught at a first listen. And the band's unique style of changing rhythms, power cords and moments of beautiful peace make Tool ever enticing to listen too.
While Longway Planetarium is not showing laser rock shows now that the holiday season is underway, they do have a "Colors of the World" show featuring music and instrumental sounds from cultures including Mexico, Zaire, China, Greece, Ukraine, and Spain.
