The Technician sat down with Brett Drayer, Student Body President, to discuss his plans for Kettering Student Government over the next year. Mr. Drayer will be serving as Operations Council Activities Chair in addition to his role as President over Winter and Summer 2009.

The Technician: Please describe briefly what your position(s) will entail (what do you have to do?).
Brett Drayer: As Senate President, I will be in charge of running Senate meetings. I will represent the student body when needed to the administration. And most importantly I will importantly I will represent the interests of the student body and Student Senate both inside and outside of the Kettering community.

TT: What previous leadership experience has prepared you for your KSG position?
I sat on Senate as Sophomore Representative the past year of 2009. I also believe that serving as different positions in my fraternity has taught me certain leadership abilities.

TT: What do you hope to accomplish beyond the basic requirements of your KSG position?
BD: As one of my personal goals, I hope to move forward in the progress I have began to improve the safety on and around the campus. I have been working to improve the safety for the past year and will continue to follow up with the administration on different projects that have been put in the works.
I also hope to improve the reputation that Student Senate has with the student body. I want to show the student body that Student Senate strives to achieve different goals that they put in place throughout the terms of the current Senate officers.

TT: Are there any ongoing discussions that you are aware of that KSG will seek to address over the next year?
BD: Cell phone coverage in the AB is no longer an issue to fight for. The solution to that was putting cell phone boosters on different levels to boost the signal however that solution was found to be too costly for the University. Besides that we will strive to complete more of the safety issues around campus. We will also be more than willing to take any suggestions from the student body that they would like to see improved.
