The annual Alpha Sigma Alpha Link Sale kicked off on 5th Monday during the lunch hour. Members and Pledges worked the table and when they packed up, they had raised $64.50. During this philanthropy event, fraternities, GDIs, and Staff Members chose the color of paper they wanted to represent themselves or their organizations, and the Alpha Sigs cut up strips of the colored paper and stapled them together. By Thursday they had raised $399.75 with Delta Tau Delta members as the highest contributors. Paper links were sold for 25 cents each or 5 for a dollar.

Friday was the busiest day by far, and the Alpha Sigs were prepared with lots of precut paper and extra staplers purchased. The members of Pi Kappa Alpha dove into the competition with five members dropping $217 on the table within the first five minutes. ASA Members got right to work cutting up strips of yellow and red paper. The Delts, however, also anticipated this and gave 20 dollar bills left and right. The Pikes mimicked this idea and the two fraternities were battling for the lead. Then the Delts kept purchasing more and more links. Links were not permitted to be purchased after 1:20pm that day. As expected, most people donated during the last half hour. Donations that day alone totaled $1,139.25. A few dedicated ASA members stayed as late as 6pm on Friday, stapling the links together and hanging them across the Great Court.

Delta Tau Delta members donated the most with a total of $852 (4,260 Links), surpassing the Pi Kappa Alpha's total of $521 (2,605 Links). Sigma Chi got third place with $42.25 donated (210 links). Total profits were $1,408.16. $704.08 was donated to LIVESTRONG, and the other half to the S. June Smith Center, Alpha Sigma Alpha's national philanthropy. The Delts' national philanthropy, Bleed Purple was founded in 2006 to help students with cancer by way of grants for tuition and medical bills. As of December of 2009, the organization has shut down due to economic reasons and encourages previous donors to that organization to donate to other nonprofits such as LIVESTRONG. The S. June Smith Center supports children with developmental needs and seeks to educate children and support families through their programs. So congratulations to Delta Tau Delta for contributing the most money, Alpha Sigma Alpha for putting on this fundraiser and thanks to all students and staff who participated in some way.
